Movie Selection<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

We select 10 popular romantic and family movies which have been in theater and received high IMDb ratings (not lower than 7.1), including About Time<\/strong>, Me Before You<\/strong>, The Theory of Everything<\/strong>, The Fault in Our Stars<\/strong>, The Spectacular Now<\/strong>, Lady Bird<\/strong>, Wonder<\/strong>, The Blind Side<\/strong>, Gifted<\/strong>, and The Judge<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interaction-Oriented Excerpts<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Each movie clip was excerpted based on a complete interpersonal interaction, which is the basic semantic unit for comprehending and experiencing a story plot. We define an interaction-oriented movie
clip by explicit criteria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Data Annotation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Character Relationship<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Each annotation of character relationship was annotated by explicit definition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Character Relationship Type<\/strong>
    • Romance, Family, and Friendship.<\/li><\/ul><\/li>
    • Character Relationship Status<\/strong>
      • The label indicates whether characters get along well or not, ranging from 1 to 5. Higher scores represents characters share better interpersonal relationship.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        Audience Emotion<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

        Each annotation of audience emotion was annotated by 8 annotators recruited from a university.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        1. Perceived Emotions<\/strong>
          • Perceived valence was annotated in 5 levels; perceived arousal was annotated in 3 levels.<\/li><\/ul><\/li>
          • Induced Emotions<\/strong>
            • Both induced valence and induced arousal were annotated in 5 levels.<\/li><\/ul><\/li>
            • Degree of Being Moved<\/strong>
              • The label, which was annotated in 5 levels, indicates the audience’s degree of being moved after watching a movie clip.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
